As I sit here and average it out in my head, in my years at Stroll, I created in excess of 400 targeted mailers for the Pimsleur Approach line. These mailers were sometimes sent out by third-party vendors, sometimes sent to lists we had parsed out ourselves of prospective customers, and sometimes both.
The styles varied from long form text based emails that illustrated the features of the product to quick billboard like lifestyle emails meant to evoke a desire or emotion. Some focused on the idea of “learning like a spy”, to illustrate that the FBI and NSA had used the Pimsleur product, and some focused on particular videos or advertorials that would give more information. Each was tested to provide the best possible conversion rate.
