Woodwind & Brasswind started as a catalog business, focused on selling musical instruments in the West and Mid-West. When WWBW moved online and partnered with their sister site, Music123, they became the 2nd largest musical instrument retailer worldwide.
The Woodwind & Brasswind customer was more classical and jazz oriented, and there was also a large segment of the customer base that were school aged band members. The harder edge of Music123 needed to be toned down to reflect a more classic theme. Through a more subtle use of earth tones, and the placement of sheet music themed graphical elements, it became hard to tell that WWBW and Music123 were the same company, let alone using the same product database.
